Publication Grant

The objective of the Publication Grant is to disseminate research on Chinese Singapore culture conducted by institutes of higher learning, think-tanks, researchers and academics. This Grant will support publications in the following areas of research: Chinese visual arts, Chinese performing arts, Chinese culture, and Chinese Singaporean identity. Print and online publications can help create awareness, and make such research available to a wider public beyond Singapore.

SCCC aims to call for publication proposals twice a year, likely in February and August. The application form and evaluation criteria are found below.

Impact of research on understanding of Chinese arts and culture

  • Originality of research
  • Importance in filling research gaps
  • Relevance to the topics in call for proposal
  • Publication content should be preferably bilingual (English and Chinese)
Sound research objectives and methodology

  • Definition and articulation of project objectives
  • Feasibility of project methodology
  • Alignment with research grant’s objectives
Capacity and Commitment

  • Track Record and qualification of researchers
  • Feasibility of project deliverables
  • Adherence to project milestones
  • Feasibility of projected expenditure
  • Collaboration with other interested parties, e.g. government agencies, think tanks, foundations, tertiary institutions, clans, schools etc.
Dissemination of research findings

  • Accessibility of access, e.g. through online and social media, videography
  • Use of new technologies to aid research
  • Digital version made freely available online on SCCC’s platforms (compulsory requirement)
  • Plans of disseminating the research outcomes to the heritage community, e.g. through symposium, conferences, talks, etc
